Denzel Robinson, Felon in Possession of Firearm, New York 2020

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Denzel Robinson, also known as Sparks, a 26-year-old resident of Buffalo, New York, is facing up to a decade behind bars after being indicted by a federal grand jury for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The grim charges come after U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., announced the indictment today. The possession of the firearms and ammunition carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael J. Adler and Charles E. Watkins, Jr., handling the case, revealed that on April 28, 2020, investigators from the Buffalo Police Department executed a search warrant at Robinson’s Sun Street residence. During the operation, they discovered quantities of suspected cocaine and marijuana, as well as various firearms and ammunition.

Robinson’s criminal history includes a conviction for Bail Jumping in the Second Degree in Erie County Court in April 2018. As a result of this conviction, he is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition.

The investigation was conducted by the Buffalo Police Department under Commissioner Byron Lockwood, the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives under Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito, New York Field Division.

It’s important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation and Robinson is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
