Christopher Walters, Oxycodone Distribution, New York 2023

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for his role in a oxycodone distribution ring. 28-year-old Christopher Walters was found guilty of possession with intent to distribute and the distribution of the powerful painkiller.

According to prosecutors, Walters sold 144 oxycodone pills to a confidential source on January 5, 2011. The sale was part of a larger investigation into Walters’ involvement in the distribution of the highly addictive prescription medication.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten handled the case, which was the culmination of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Special Agents, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.

Walters’ sentencing marks the end of a long investigation into the distribution of oxycodone in the Buffalo area. The powerful painkiller has been linked to a number of overdoses and addiction cases in the region.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the 12-month sentence, which is the maximum allowed under the law for the charges Walters faced.

The case highlights the ongoing struggle against the distribution of prescription medications in the United States. As the opioid epidemic continues to ravage communities across the country, law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.

Walters’ sentencing is a significant victory for the DEA and the community. It serves as a reminder that those who distribute prescription medications for profit will be held accountable for their actions.
