Kayla Renee Combs, Cocaine Base Conspiracy, New York 2023

Kayla Renee Combs, a 24-year-old Buffalo woman, has pleaded guilty to her involvement in a large-scale cocaine base conspiracy in Western New York.

According to court documents, Combs, along with several co-defendants, was part of a trafficking operation that brought cocaine base and cocaine from the Cleveland, Ohio area into Western New York, with distribution points in North Tonawanda, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and Buffalo.

The charges, which carry a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years, a $5,000,000 fine, or both, were brought against Combs after a lengthy investigation by the DEA, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, the Niagara County Drug Task Force, and the North Tonawanda Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary C. Baumgarten stated that the charges stem from an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine base and cocaine from the Cleveland, Ohio area into Western New York, and the distribution of those drugs in North Tonawanda, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and Buffalo.

Combs is the first defendant convicted in this case, with sentencing scheduled for September 15, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Richard J. Arcara.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation into the cocaine base conspiracy is ongoing, with co-defendants Nathaniel Clark, Raysean Clark, and Tommy Eugene Clark still facing charges.

The case highlights the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in Western New York and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible to justice.

Sentencing for Combs will be held on September 15, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Richard J. Arcara.
