Christopher Burdine-Davies, Fentanyl Distribution, Indiana 2022

Fentanyl distribution has landed a Lafayette man in federal prison for nearly six years. Christopher Burdine-Davies, 24, of Lafayette, Indiana, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in distributing the deadly drug.

According to documents in the case, Burdine-Davies, a convicted felon, sold fentanyl on six separate occasions between September 26, 2022, and October 20, 2022. He also sold three privately made firearms to law enforcement, which he was prohibited from possessing due to his prior felony convictions.

Burdine-Davies pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl and was sentenced by United States District Court Senior Judge James T. Moody. In addition to his 70-month prison sentence, he will also serve 3 years of supervised release.

Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor announced the sentencing, stating, “Illicit fentanyl is a deadly poison,” “Christopher Burdine-Davies chose to sell it anyway. Thanks to the efforts of the many partner agencies participating in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, Mr. Burdine-Davies can no longer ply his trade in this District. I applaud their efforts, and the just outcome to which they led.”

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Merrillville District Office, Tippecanoe Drug Task Force, and the Lafayette Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Nozick prosecuted the case.

Burdine-Davies’s criminal history showed previous felony convictions for possessing a controlled substance, criminal recklessness, and intimidation, which were felonies that disqualified him from possessing any firearm or ammunition. His sentencing serves as a reminder of the dangers of fentanyl distribution and the consequences of violating federal law.

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, which participated in the investigation, is a partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies working together to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations. The task force’s efforts have led to numerous arrests and convictions in recent years, making communities safer and reducing the flow of illicit drugs.

In Indiana, fentanyl distribution is a serious crime that carries significant penalties. Those convicted of distributing fentanyl can face lengthy prison sentences, fines, and supervised release. The sentencing of Christopher Burdine-Davies serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar criminal activity.
