A Rosebud man has been jailed after pleading guilty to burglary and aiding and abetting in a crime that saw cash stolen from a local golf club.
Justin Lee Gabriel, 21, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on February 6, 2013 and admitted to breaking into the Prairie Hills Square golf club on September 6, 2012.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; 3 years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment.
The investigation was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Maher handling the case.
A presentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing date was set for May 6, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
The incident is a stark reminder of the need for greater security measures to be taken at businesses and homes in the area.
