Philadelphia’s grim underbelly of child sexual exploitation took center stage this week as Cameron Carlucci, 27, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography from 2016 until his arrest in 2018. The Honorable Berle M. Schiller handed down the sentence, followed by 10 years of supervised release, after Carlucci was found guilty of amassing more than 56,000 images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of prepubescent boys, infants, and toddlers.
The digital archive of depravity was shared across encrypted networks and file-sharing platforms, exposing the darkest corners of online child exploitation. Investigators revealed that the material was not only extensive in volume but disturbing in severity—graphic content involving the youngest and most vulnerable victims. Carlucci’s actions were not isolated; they were systematic, sustained, and hidden behind a façade of normalcy.
Even more alarming? Carlucci had prior red flags. In 2011, he was convicted in Philadelphia for possession of obscene and sexual materials, receiving five years of probation. The moment that supervision ended, he plunged back into criminal behavior—this time with escalated intent. While actively collecting and trading child pornography, Carlucci brazenly applied for a position at Valley Pediatrics in Warminster, PA, falsifying his application by denying any criminal history.
He got the job. As a medical technician, he had access to children—infants and toddlers, the very same victims depicted in the vile media he hoarded. Parents brought their sick children to Valley Pediatrics expecting care and safety. Instead, they were unknowingly placing them in proximity to a convicted sexual predator who had lied to get inside the clinic.
“Not only did this defendant commit the heinous crime of possessing and distributing child pornography, he lied to get a job that would put him in close proximity to children,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain. “Parents and caregivers bring their children to doctors’ offices with the expectation that they will be safe and cared for, not in the presence of a known sexual predator. We thank the judge in this case for ensuring that Carlucci will be behind bars and unable to be in contact with children for a very long time.”
The FBI led the investigation, unraveling Carlucci’s digital trail and exposing his deception. Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella prosecuted the case with relentless focus. The conviction stands as a warning: those who exploit children—online or in person—will be hunted down, exposed, and locked away. For Cameron Carlucci, the reckoning has arrived.
