A Candler, North Carolina man, Jake Ben Paul Lohr, 48, is headed behind bars for 10+ years after distributing thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) via a peer-to-peer network. The dark online market was raided in February 2024, revealing a staggering 571,950 images of abused children, some as young as infants.
Between December 2023 and January 2024, law enforcement downloaded files from Lohr’s online stash, containing images and videos of sadistic or violent child abuse. The defendant’s home was subsequently raided, and multiple electronic devices were seized and analyzed.
U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson condemned Lohr’s actions, stating that each time CSAM is shared, the child is revictimized. ‘For those who distribute thousands of files like Lohr, we have no choice but to remove them from the community to stop them from causing further harm,’ Ferguson said.
Lohr was sentenced to 126 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Upon release, he’ll be required to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board in any state or jurisdiction where he works or resides.
