Cargo Theft Ring Sentenced in Florida

In a major blow to organized crime, four men were sentenced in Florida for participating in a cargo theft ring. Eliesky Sanchez, 31, and Reinaldo Garcia Suarez, 39, both of West Palm Beach, were sentenced to 60 months and 50 months in prison, respectively, for conspiracy to buy or receive goods stolen from an interstate and foreign shipment valued in excess of $1,000.

The investigation revealed that Sanchez and Suarez were actively selling and providing as samples property which bore identifying numbers that matched the identifying numbers on the products stolen from different tractor trailer thefts. Items sold and/or provided as samples included, but were not limited to, Liquid Crystal Display vehicle monitors, Invicta wrist watches, Ralph Lauren clothing items, Proctor & Gamble products, and Nestle brand products.

Alien Moya, 30, also of West Palm Beach, was sentenced to 44 months in prison for conspiracy to steal goods valued in excess of $1,000. Reinaldo Llabona, Jr., 26, of Miami, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in the scheme.

The group’s crimes came to light when Moya and Llabona, Jr. picked up a load of Nestle products in Georgia, which they were supposed to deliver to a Walmart in Winter Haven, Florida. However, they decided to steal the load and delivered it to co-conspirators in Palm Beach County, valued at approximately $376,000.

U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the FBI and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William T. Zloch.

The sentencing of these four men is a significant victory in the fight against organized crime in Florida. It serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar activities that they will be held accountable for their actions.
