MINNEAPOLIS – The federal court saw Edward Tiki Arrington, 45, for the first time today, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. Arrington faces charges of carjacking and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence after his spree on September 4, 2025.
In a tragic turn of events, Arrington’s actions led to the deaths of two young women and serious injuries to a child. After being hospitalized, he is now in federal custody. Arrington was ordered detained pending a hearing set for September 22, 2025.
“Two weeks ago, a despicable act of violence stole the lives of two innocent women,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. “We will do everything in our power to see that justice is served.”
The spree began around 8 am when Arrington brandished a gun near 334 Lake Street East, Minneapolis. His red SUV was involved in a high-speed chase with police that ended in a fatal crash.
According to the complaint, Arrington was driving erratically and carjacked multiple vehicles throughout the morning. He targeted at least eight victims, including pedestrians and drivers. One of his crimes included attempting to remove two dogs from his SUV before placing them into a stolen Volkswagen Passat.
MPD located Arrington in North Minneapolis after receiving reports of shots fired. A pursuit ensued, ending in a collision that killed the women in their 20s and injured the child. One of the victims was the child’s mother.
