Baton Rouge Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Carl Alexander, age 28, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment, charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8).
Alexander faces a maximum term of imprisonment of up to 15 years, a fine of up to $250,000.00, a period of supervised release up to 3 years, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00.
According to court records, on February 21, 2023, New Orleans Police Department arrested Alexander was arrested for being in possession of a stolen FN Model 509, nine-millimeter firearm on a Mardi Gras parade route.
Alexander is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. The Honorable Susie Morgan, United States District Court Judge, will sentence Alexander on November 30, 2023.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the New Orleans Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Troy Bell of the General Crime Unit.
