Akron Man Charged with Firearms, Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine
A 45-year-old Akron man has been indicted for being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as for distributing fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Carl Hundley, Jr. was charged in a five-count indictment with being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, distribution of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine.
Hundley was in possession of fentanyl and heroin on April 10, and also had a Ruger pistol, a Taurus revolver, and ammunition in his possession, despite previous convictions for trafficking heroin and other crimes, according to the indictment.
Additionally, Hundley was in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine on August 9, according to the indictment.
If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal records, if any, the defendant’s role in the offenses, and the characteristics of the violations. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases will be less than the maximum.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Katz.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
