Threats Against Reproductive Services in Ohio
In a disturbing case out of Columbus, Ohio, 25-year-old Carlos Manuel Rodriguez Brime has been indicted for threatening a local reproductive health services facility.
According to court documents, Brime made two separate telephone threats to the facility on April 11, in which he made a death threat and a bomb threat.
The charges stem from these threats, with Brime facing three counts: a violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, making threatening statements through interstate communications, and making a bomb threat.
These crimes are serious and have severe consequences. If convicted, Brime faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Columbus Resident Agency of the Cincinnati Field Office and the Columbus Police Department.
Brime’s case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting reproductive health services and the individuals who provide them.
An indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, and not evidence of guilt. Brime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
