A Ferguson man who was shot while searching for his lost methamphetamine has been sentenced to over 13 years in prison, according to a recent federal court decision.
Cedric D. Baker, 49, flew to Houston, Texas on July 30, 2020, and purchased over 10 kilograms of methamphetamine that had been pressed into pills. He then shipped the drugs via Federal Express to his grandmother’s address in the 2300 block of McLaran Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri.
Baker’s grandmother was unaware of the contents of the package, which was seized by authorities after it appeared suspicious. Baker repeatedly visited the address in an attempt to retrieve his lost methamphetamine. On August 12, he went to the location and waved a 9mm pistol at his cousin and his cousin’s friend, who denied knowledge of the package.
The cousin’s friend, who was also armed, pulled out his own pistol and shot Baker four times, according to court documents. Baker pleaded guilty in February to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney Paul D’Agnos is prosecuting the case.
Baker has prior convictions for drug and robbery offenses. He will serve a 13-year prison sentence for his crimes.
Cedric D. Baker, a resident of Ferguson, Missouri, was sentenced to 165 months in prison on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, for his involvement in methamphetamine distribution and firearm charges.
The exact date of Baker’s crime was July 30, 2020. His city and state of residence are Ferguson, Missouri.
Baker’s criminal charges include one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
