A South Bend man has been sentenced to 121 months in prison for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine, federal authorities announced.
Cedric Washington, 40, of South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. after pleading guilty to four counts of distributing methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Washington’s crimes took place in June and July of 2021, during which he sold methamphetamine on four separate occasions, including one transaction that involved over 50 grams of the substance.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration with the assistance of the South Bend Police Department.
Washington’s criminal history includes three prior felony convictions, one of which was a federal firearms offense.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
Washington was sentenced to 121 months in prison followed by 4 years of supervised release, according to court documents.
The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine distribution in South Bend and across the state of Indiana.
As a result of Washington’s actions, the community has lost trust and suffered from the devastating effects of methamphetamine use.
