Methamphetamine Conspiracy Rocks Owensboro, KY
A 12-defendant federal indictment, returned by a grand jury in Bowling Green, KY on February 15, 2023, has shaken the Owensboro, KY community, alleging a large-scale methamphetamine operation.
According to the indictment, Chance Morton, 34, of Owensboro, KY, is among the defendants, charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine between July 2022 and February 14, 2023.
If convicted, Morton faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The investigation, led by the DEA, FBI, HSI, Owensboro Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Owensboro-Daviess County Drug Task Force, has resulted in the arrest of the defendants, with all currently in custody.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Frank Dahl and Mark Yurchisin leading the prosecution, continues to work towards bringing the defendants to justice.
This effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation, aimed at disrupting and dismantling high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States.
