Child Predator Behind Bars: A Tennessee man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for producing child pornography, a crime that has left a community shaken. Charles Anthony Anderson, 56, was convicted of producing child pornography and committing that offense as a registered sex offender.
The crimes date back to 2019, when Anderson, who was already a registered sex offender, began producing child pornography. Anderson was convicted in Florida in 2003 of two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor under 12 years of age. He served 60 months on community corrections in that case.
Anderson’s descent into child pornography began in 2019, when he started producing explicit images of a minor victim. He was required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) as a result of his previous conviction.
On February 2021, a cleaning crew at Anderson’s business, Mountain Top Vapors in Buchanan, Tennessee, stumbled upon a cellphone containing explicit images of a minor victim. The crew member took the phone home, charged it, and discovered the disturbing images. When confronted, Anderson admitted to taking the pictures.
Anderson’s confession led to a federal investigation, and agents obtained a search warrant to examine his phone. Forensic analysis revealed that the images were produced using Anderson’s phone in 2019, including the explicit image of a minor victim.
Chief Judge S. Thomas Anderson sentenced Charles Anthony Anderson to 25 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. This case was investigated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
