Glen Allen Man Sentenced to 13 Years for Violating Firearm Laws

A convicted felon from Glen Allen, Virginia has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for violating firearm laws. Charles Bryan Alexander, 50, was found in possession of a loaded handgun with a 17-round magazine and a round in the chamber during a traffic stop on December 2, 2024.

Alexander was the subject of outstanding arrest warrants at the time of the stop, conducted by the Henrico Police. He was subsequently charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, a crime to which he pleaded guilty.

As a previously convicted felon, Alexander is barred from possessing firearms or ammunition. He was released from prison just six months prior to the discovery of the firearm, having served 45 years of a 60-year sentence for first-degree murder, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division and the Henrico County Police Division investigated the case, with special assistance from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office.

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Gilliland and Assistant U.S. Attorney Janet Jin Ah Lee prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating violent crime.
