An Abilene, Texas man has been sentenced to 102 months in federal prison for possessing prepubescent child pornography.
Charles Coci, 26, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis on April 2015 to 102 months in federal prison for one count of possession of prepubescent child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas.
According to documents filed in the case, Coci used a laptop computer at his residence to search the Internet for images and videos of child pornography. In the course of searching for this material, Coci located, downloaded and viewed numerous images and videos constituting child pornography, and some of those images involved prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Abilene Police Department and the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lubbock, Texas, prosecuted.
After sentencing, Judge Solis remanded Coci, who had been on bond, into the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
The charges against Coci stem from one count of possession of prepubescent child pornography, a federal crime. Coci’s sentence was handed down in April 2015 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Charles Coci is currently serving his 102-month sentence in federal prison.
