Charles Dean Lack, Threatening Murder of Feds, Oklahoma 2022

A 56-year-old man from Wayne, Oklahoma has been charged with threatening to murder federal law enforcement officers. Charles Dean Lack, 56, pleaded guilty to the federal charge in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

According to court documents, Lack communicated his intention to kill federal officers at Will Rogers World Airport. The affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint states that Lack had previously visited the airport on three separate occasions to determine the location of certain federal law enforcement officials.

The FBI Oklahoma City Field Office and Oklahoma City Police Department led the investigation into Lack’s threats. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matt Dillon and Mark Stoneman are prosecuting the case.

Lack was taken into custody on August 8, 2022, and has been in federal custody ever since. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for approximately 90 days from now, where the court will determine Lack’s punishment. The case is a result of the thorough investigations by the FBI and Oklahoma City Police Department.
