CONCORD, New Hampshire – A Nashua man is facing serious charges for his alleged involvement in firearm straw purchasing.
Between September and November of 2021, Charles Stone, age 23, purchased a total of six firearms on five separate occasions from federally licensed firearms dealers in New Hampshire.
According to the charging document, Stone would complete the firearm purchase forms stating that he was the actual buyer or transferee of the gun, when in fact he was buying the guns for someone else.
The charges against Stone include five counts of making false statements to federally licensed firearms dealers during the purchase of firearms, which carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Stone will appear in federal court in Concord at a later date to face the charges.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Gingrande is prosecuting the case.
The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. Stone is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
