Rodriquez Henley, a 33-year-old Memphis resident, was found guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. On May 19, 2025, officers from the Memphis Police Department responded to a disturbance call at the Know-It-All Market on Park Avenue, where they located Henley and recovered a black Ruger .380 caliber handgun from his front waistband. Henley’s extensive criminal history, including convictions for Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary, led to his designation as an Armed Career Criminal (ACC).
During the two-day federal trial, the jury heard evidence of Henley’s violent past, which includes two separate convictions for Aggravated Robbery and a conviction for Aggravated Burglary. The jury’s verdict and special finding that Henley had committed at least three violent felonies on different occasions triggered the enhanced sentencing penalties under the Armed Career Criminal Act (ACCA).
As a result of the verdict and ACC designation, Henley faces a mandatory minimum sentence of at least 15 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant stated that Henley’s ‘lifestyle of lawlessness has finally caught up with him’ and that the federal system will impose a ‘real consequence’ to prevent him from victimizing anyone else.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled to be held on November 10, 2026, before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sheryl H. Lipman. The case was investigated by the Memphis Police Department as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative.
