⏱ 2 min read

Mario Patterson, a 45-year-old Memphis man, has been sentenced to 579 months in federal prison for his role in a series of bank robberies in and around Memphis between April 2023 and December 2023. Patterson, along with seven other co-defendants, participated in a conspiracy to rob banks, using firearms during the robberies. The group’s crime spree included three successful bank robberies and one attempted robbery.

According to evidence presented at the trials, Patterson and his co-defendants, including Courtney Trenell, Devin Hinds, and Joshua Cribbs, targeted banks in Memphis, using firearms to intimidate bank employees and customers. On April 27, 2023, Patterson and co-defendant Travis Drain robbed a First Horizon Bank branch, brandishing an AK-style pistol and escaping with a large amount of money.

The group’s brazen robberies continued throughout 2023, with multiple co-defendants pleading guilty to bank robbery and firearms charges. Patterson’s sentence is the latest in a series of convictions and sentences handed down to the group, with four co-defendants already pleading guilty and three others found guilty by a federal jury in July 2025.

The investigation and prosecution of Patterson and his co-defendants were handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee, led by D. Michael Dunavant. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat violent crime and bank robbery in the Memphis area.
