Maurice Harris, a 32-year-old Memphis man, has been sentenced to over 78 years in federal prison for a string of armed business robberies in the Western District of Tennessee. Between October 4 and 10, 2024, Harris robbed three stores: Metro by T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless, and AT&T, using a handgun to demand phones and tablets. The crimes took place in Memphis and Brownsville, Tennessee, with one incident involving a 5-year-old child.
Harris’s downfall came when he left his driver’s license at one of the crime scenes and was later arrested at his workplace with the same handgun and stolen goods. Surveillance footage and eyewitness identifications sealed his fate, leading to a conviction on multiple counts of robbery, firearm use, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Harris’s prior federal conviction for business robbery and recent supervised release made his new crimes all the more egregious. After a three-day trial, he was sentenced to 946 months and a day in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Mark S. Norris on June 23, 2026, reflects the severity of Harris’s crimes and the need to protect the community from violent offenders.
