Vincent Williams, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2017

Charleston, W.Va. — Vincent Williams, 40, was sentenced today to 10 years in federal prison for distributing five grams or more of methamphetamine — a conviction rooted in a two-day drug sale spree and the seizure of nearly two and a half kilograms of the potent stimulant from his home.

Court documents reveal Williams sold approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Hurricane, West Virginia, on September 15, 2017, then repeated the transaction three days later on September 18. The deals set off a swift investigative chain that culminated in a raid on his Charleston residence the following day.

On September 19, 2017, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence and uncovered a stash of drugs and weapons — including approximately 2,266.3 grams of methamphetamine, which Williams admitted he intended to distribute. Also found: 107.14 grams of heroin and a loaded .40 caliber handgun tucked inside the home.

U.S. Attorney William S. Thompson announced the sentence, slamming Williams’ actions as part of a dangerous pattern fueling the opioid and meth crisis tearing through central Appalachia. He credited the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the U.S. Marshals Service for dismantling a significant supply node in the region’s illicit drug trade.

United States District Judge Irene C. Berger handed down the 120-month sentence, emphasizing the severity of large-scale distribution and the added threat posed by the presence of firearms. Assistant United States Attorney Nick Miller prosecuted the case, building a timeline of controlled buys and forensic evidence that left little room for dispute.

The case, numbered 2:18-cr-00110, is documented in full on PACER. A copy of the original DOJ press release is archived on the U.S. Attorney’s Office website for the Southern District of West Virginia, underscoring federal efforts to target mid-level traffickers in the overdose-ravaged state.
