DETROIT – A Macomb County firearms dealer is accused of turning his business into a pipeline for illegal machine gun parts, allegedly sourcing Glock conversion devices directly from Russia. Chase Farmer, 23, of St. Clair Shores, was indicted on charges related to the importation of these dangerous components and a pattern of falsifying business records.
According to federal prosecutors, Farmer, owner of Shall Not Be Infringed, LLC, based in Clinton Township, used a Russian website to purchase Glock conversion devices and drop-in auto sears between November 2020 and March 2021. These devices, authorities say, transform standard Glock pistols into fully automatic weapons capable of firing multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) alleges Farmer attempted to conceal the purchases by using an alias and manipulating PayPal payment details. Despite these efforts, ATF agents tracked the transactions and recovered evidence linking Farmer to the illicit imports. As a federally licensed firearms dealer, Farmer was authorized to sell firearms, but not to import them – especially not prohibited items like machine gun conversion kits.
“These aren’t just parts; they’re tools to create weapons that pose a significant threat to public safety,” said U.S. Attorney Dawn N. Ison in a statement. The indictment also details Farmer’s alleged failure to maintain accurate records as a licensed firearms dealer, a crucial requirement for tracking weapons and preventing them from falling into the wrong hands.
The case has been assigned to United States District Judge Gershwin A. Drain. If convicted, Farmer could face up to 10 years in federal prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Diane Princ is prosecuting the case. It’s important to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Farmer is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The ATF’s Detroit Division led the investigation, highlighting the agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the flow of illegal firearms and components.
