Cedar Rapids, Iowa, man sentenced to over 7 years for firearm possession.
A convicted felon from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for unlawfully possessing five stolen firearms.
Chase Mead, 31, received the prison term after a guilty plea to one count of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition on March 18, 2014.
In a plea agreement, Mead admitted to possessing two rifles and three handguns, all of which had previously been reported stolen, on June 14, 2013.
Mead had previously been convicted of two felony offenses: forgery in 2003 and manufacturing methamphetamine in 2008.
United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade sentenced Mead to 94 months’ imprisonment, a special assessment of $100, and a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
Mead is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Morfitt and investigated by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
