BOSTON – The gritty streets of Boston have witnessed another dramatic chapter in the ongoing battle against financial crime. Chelsea man Keywan Kelly, 30, has pleaded guilty to the audacious armed robberies of three local banks this past year.
In a hearing that sent shivers down spines, Kelly confessed to three counts of armed bank robbery. Scheduled for November 12, 2025, his sentencing will be yet another day of reckoning in the federal court.
The July 2024 saga began with Kelly’s brazen entry into the Bank of America branch in Weymouth. With threats of violence and a firearm as leverage, he demanded $20,000 from the teller, receiving $19,000 before his exit.
On July 16, 2024, in Jamaica Plain, Kelly struck again at the Rockland Trust Bank, this time with a black balaclava style mask. The demand was for $20,000, and Kelly walked away with $2,480 after handing over his demands.
The following day, in Hyde Park, Kelly’s trail led to another Rockland Trust Bank branch. After demanding $20,000, he left the bank with approximately $3,000, his threats echoing through the empty halls of the institution.
Investigative prowess paid off when Kelly was identified on video surveillance from Weymouth and connected to the getaway vehicle by fingerprints. Cell phone location data sealed the deal, placing him near each bank during the robberies.
