GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – A shocking tale of methamphetamine distribution has come to light in Greeneville, Tennessee. On April 15, 2019, Chevez McCray, 35, of Morristown, Tennessee, was sentenced by the Honorable J. Ronnie Greer, Senior U.S. District Court Judge, for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.
Mccray pleaded guilty on December 2018 to conspiring with Hector Mendez-Sales, a/k/a Oswaldo Sanchez, to distribute methamphetamine. Mendez-Sales, a 34-year-old citizen of Guatemala residing in Talbott, Tennessee, was also convicted of illegally reentering the United States after having been deported.
According to officials, both defendants were part of a larger methamphetamine distribution ring. Their actions led to a significant blow to the community, and their sentencing will undoubtedly bring relief to those affected.
The investigation, which involved the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, FBI, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was a collaborative effort to take down those responsible for the distribution of methamphetamine.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys William Roach and Robert Reeves represented the United States in this case. Their tireless efforts led to the successful prosecution of the defendants.
