Christopher Russell Fox, Child Pornography Distribution, Maryland 2023

Baltimore, Maryland – A 42-year-old man from Brooklyn, Maryland, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Christopher Russell Fox was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett on [date] to 20 years in federal prison, followed by lifetime supervised release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

Fox was previously convicted of a third-degree sex offense in 2016 in Howard County Circuit Court. His guilty plea stated that between March and May 2018, a technology company sent numerous CyberTip Reports regarding child pornography incidents on its video conference platform. The reports included files depicting prepubescent males engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Investigation revealed that Fox repeatedly used a video conferencing platform to pose as a minor male, communicate with other users, and trade sexually explicit images and videos. He was on probation for his 2016 sex offense conviction at the time of the offenses.

On March 24, 2018, Fox posed as an 8th-grade male and engaged in sexually explicit conversation with a user who stated he was in the 10th grade. During the conversation, Fox sent the user a video of three prepubescent males engaging in sexual acts.

On May 10, 2019, investigators executed a federal search warrant at Fox’s residence and seized digital items, including his computer and a mini thumb drive. A forensic review revealed that Fox possessed over 158 images of child pornography on the digital devices.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Acting United States Attorney Jonathan F. Lenzner commended the FBI for its work in the investigation. Lenzner thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christine L. Duey and Matthew Maddox, who prosecuted the federal case.
