Joshua Sattora, Receiving Child Pornography, New York 2024

Rochester is reeling after Joshua Sattora, 37, pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography, a crime that carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison. The shocking revelation has left many in the community questioning the safety of their children.

According to court documents, between December 26, 2017, and August 13, 2018, Sattora and co-defendant Rebecca Woodin engaged in a series of text messages during which Woodin sent approximately 14 sexually explicit images of a minor to Sattora. The disturbing exchange also saw Sattora sending images of child pornography to Woodin.

Woodin, who was previously convicted, is awaiting sentencing. The investigation into Sattora’s crimes was a joint effort between the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force, the New York State Police, and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

Sattora possessed at least 923 images and 362 videos of child pornography on two cellular telephones and three computers. The sheer scale of Sattora’s crimes has left many in the community outraged and demanding justice.

The plea is a result of an investigation that was under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia from the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force, Major Barry Chase from the New York State Police, and District Attorney Sandra Doorley from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

Sattora’s sentencing is scheduled for November 3, 2021, before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
