Christina Jacobs, Filing a False Tax Return, West Virginia 2012

A 42-year-old woman from Ranson, West Virginia, has been caught up in a web of deceit and deception, as she admitted to filing a false tax return, a serious offense that has landed her in hot water.

According to officials, Christina Jacobs, age 42, pled guilty to one count of "Filing a False Tax Return" in a West Virginia courtroom.

The crime took place in 2012, when Jacobs willfully understated her income from 9 West Hair Studio by approximately $32,030.70, resulting in an unpaid tax due and owing of approximately $9,394.00.

This egregious act of tax evasion has put Jacobs at risk of facing serious consequences, including up to three years incarceration and a fine of up to $100,000.

The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence imposed upon Jacobs, taking into account the seriousness of the offenses and her prior criminal history, if any.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod J. Douglas prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Internal Revenue Service conducting the investigation.
