Crime Spree: Seven Pharmacies Hit in One Weekend
A brazen string of pharmacy burglaries shook the state of Nebraska in February 2021, with seven locations in Springfield, Fremont, and Omaha falling victim to the thieves. The burglaries took place between February 10 and 12, leaving a trail of shattered glass and stolen goods in their wake.
Justice Served: Williams Sentenced to 63 Months
Christopher Allen Williams, 32, of Fort Worth, Texas, was sentenced to 63 months’ imprisonment for his role in the Nebraska pharmacy burglaries. Williams, along with co-conspirator Christopher Blanton, targeted pharmacies across the state, making off with an estimated $24,917 in stolen goods.
Law Enforcement Efforts Pay Off
A multi-agency task force, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice. By analyzing cell-tower data, videos from the burglaries, and historical cell phone location data, investigators were able to identify the cell phones used by the thieves and track their movements across state lines.
Cooperation Key to Conviction
Cooperation from law enforcement agencies in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa was instrumental in identifying the individuals involved in the pharmacy burglaries. The task force’s efforts ultimately led to the sentencing of both Williams and Blanton.
Restitution Ordered
As part of his sentence, Williams was ordered to pay $24,917 in restitution to the affected pharmacies. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between state and federal law enforcement agencies in bringing criminals to justice.
Omaha Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol Commendable
The Omaha Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol were key players in the investigation, working closely with the DEA to bring the perpetrators to justice. Their dedication and expertise were instrumental in solving the case.
