Ossie Bradley, a 52-year-old man from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On August 17, 2021, Bradley was pulled over by a Lincoln Police officer on Interstate 80 in Lancaster County for a traffic violation. As the officer approached the vehicle, he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana.
The officer asked Bradley to step out of the car to receive a traffic warning, and during a pat-down search, the officer found a handgun tucked into a small holster around Bradley’s waist. The firearm, a Ruger LCP II .380 caliber pistol, had six rounds in the magazine and was discovered to be stolen from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Bradley was prohibited from possessing firearms due to multiple prior felony convictions, including a conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm in Minnesota.
Bradley’s case was investigated by the Lincoln Police Department as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, a program that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence in communities.
The PSN program is based on four core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
Bradley will also serve three years on supervised release after completing his prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
