Robber Sentenced to 16 Years for Omaha Heists

Justin C. McCoy, 30, has been sentenced to 194 months of imprisonment in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska, for three counts of robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. McCoy will also begin a four-year term of supervised release after completing his term of imprisonment, with no parole available in the federal system.

The convictions stem from a string of robberies that took place in January 2018. On January 13, McCoy brandished a firearm and robbed the Scooter’s at 766 Gold Coast Drive in Papillion, Nebraska, obtaining $550.00. He threatened an employee through the drive-through window.

The next day, McCoy robbed Valentino’s Pizza at 5070 Leavenworth in Omaha, waving a firearm at two employees before taking $75.00. Later that day, McCoy robbed the Bucky’s at 11955 Pacific Street in Omaha, brandishing a firearm and demanding money, and obtained $155.00.

U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly noted that the use of a firearm to rob three businesses of a total of $780.00 resulted in more than 16 years of imprisonment. Kelly emphasized that criminals using firearms will not be tolerated and those criminals will be aggressively pursued by federal authorities.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Great Plains Robbery Task Force, the Omaha Police Department, and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.
