In a stunning display of bravery, Louie Johnson, a farmer from Weeping Water, Nebraska, has been recognized for his heroic efforts to save the life of another farmer, leaving his own life in the balance. On August 26, 1923, Johnson risked everything to rescue a fellow farmer from suffocation in a well. His selfless act has earned him a silver medal and a pension of $80 a month, as well as a monthly stipend for his four children.
