Christopher Glynn, Wire Fraud, New Jersey 2019

CAMDEN, N.J. — A 57-year-old California man has been nailed in a sprawling investment fraud scheme that ripped off New Jersey victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Christopher Glynn of Burbank, California, was indicted in August 2019 on seven counts of wire fraud and four counts of money laundering — charges that now carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison per count and fines up to $500,000.

Glynn vanished after the indictment, slipping federal authorities for nearly a year before being arrested in Medford, Oregon. He’s set to appear before a judge in the District of Oregon today. The case, led by U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito, exposes a web of fake corporate fronts and audacious government impersonations used to sell a phantom investment opportunity.

According to the indictment, Glynn operated shell entities like U.S. Grant Distribution Group, PG Philanthropic Initiative, and Perrarus Global Philanthropic Initiative. He claimed ties to a shadowy international trust allegedly backed by billions, purporting to aid in the economic recovery of U.S. states and the nation. This fiction formed the backbone of his con.

Targeting two grieving victims in Vineland, New Jersey, Glynn pitched a “once in a lifetime opportunity” — a “business development loan” tied to the fake trust. He promised returns to fund an animal care foundation in memory of their deceased loved one. He sealed the lie with forged contracts, emails, and staged conference calls featuring imposters posing as agents from the NSA, DHS, or FBI.

The victims wired money to bank accounts Glynn controlled, believing their funds would cover legal expenses and charitable work. Instead, Glynn and his associates siphoned the cash for personal use. They even opened credit cards in the name of the victims’ foundation, racking up charges on retail purchases and late fees — all while the shelter remained nothing more than a cruel promise.

The investigation was led by FBI agents from the Atlantic City Resident Agency under Acting Special Agent in Charge Joe Denahan. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara A. Aliabadi is prosecuting the case. The charges remain allegations until proven in court, but the evidence paints a damning portrait of deception, greed, and the exploitation of loss.
