Christopher Kendrick, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, New York 2021

A 27-year-old Rochester man will spend 30 months behind bars after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross, Christopher Kendrick’s sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. Kendrick’s crime was uncovered on May 11, 2021, while he was traveling through the Peace Bridge in Buffalo.

Kendrick, who had previously been convicted of 3rd Degree Robbery in Monroe County Court in October 2011, was found to be in possession of a .25 caliber semiautomatic pistol and ammunition in the glove compartment of his vehicle.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents had stopped Kendrick after he presented a New York State identification but had no other identification on him. He was removed from his vehicle and taken to the Peace Bridge Administration Building for further questioning.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Customs and Border Protection, under the direction of Director of Field Operations Rose Brophy and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino.

Kendrick’s conviction serves as a reminder that those with a history of violent crime will be held accountable for their actions.

The case is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in keeping our communities safe.
