Christopher Lane, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Alabama 2021

Birmingham, AL – In a recent sentencing, Christopher Lane, 47, of Talladega, received nearly 18 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

On September 2021, Lane pleaded guilty to the charges, which stemmed from a multi-count indictment in August 2019. The indictment accused Lane and others of participating in a drug trafficking organization that transported illicit substances from Mexico to Talladega.

The organization was accused of distributing heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl between May 2017 and July 2019.

U.S. District Court Judge Liles C. Burke handed down the 17.5-year sentence, taking into account Lane’s status as a career offender due to prior felony convictions.

Lane’s case was investigated by the DEA, in partnership with the Talladega County Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Blake Milner and Austin Shutt led the prosecution.

This investigation is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), an independent component established in 1982 to combat transnational-organized-crime and reduce the availability of illicit narcotics nationwide.

OCDETF leverages the resources and expertise of its partners in concentrated, coordinated, long-term enterprise investigations of transnational organized crime, money laundering, and major drug trafficking networks.
