A Bluefield man was sentenced to six years and six months in prison for possessing child pornography, according to court documents.
Christopher Paul Knight, 56, was sentenced on an unknown date in Mercer County for possessing more than 1,000 image and video files of suspected child pornography, which included prepubescent minors engaged in sexual intercourse and other sexually explicit conduct.
The images and videos were discovered during a search warrant executed at Knight’s Bluefield residence on November 17, 2021, by law enforcement officers.
Knight admitted to downloading and possessing the images and videos of child pornography, according to court documents.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Sentencing in the case was imposed by Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber.
Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Rada Herrald prosecuted the case.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative of the government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
