SCRANTON – In a shocking case of child exploitation, Christopher Vieira, a 37-year-old resident of Nicholson, Pennsylvania, has been indicted for his involvement in a string of heinous crimes targeting minors.
According to the indictment, Vieira used the internet and an electronic device to persuade and entice a minor to engage in sexual conduct and to produce child pornography. The indictment also alleges that on January 1, 2026 and January 10, 2026, Vieira received child pornography.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tatum R. Wilson, who has vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice. The Federal Bureau of Investigations investigated the case, bringing it to light and ensuring that Vieira will face the consequences of his actions.
The maximum penalty under federal law for the crimes charged in the Indictment is life imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. This is a stark reminder of the severity of child exploitation and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This initiative has brought together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
Christopher Vieira is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, the evidence against him is clear, and it is only a matter of time before he is brought to justice. The people of Pennsylvania can rest assured that the authorities are working tirelessly to protect their children from predators like Vieira.
