GREAT FALLS, Montana – In a disturbing case of disregard for American law, Cirilo Marcial-Ramirez, a 34-year-old Mexico citizen from Oaxaca, was sentenced to 174 days of time served and one year of supervised release for conviction of illegal re-entry into the United States.
According to court documents, the investigation began on September 13, 2017, when Great Falls Police Department officers contacted Ramirez regarding a traffic accident and arrested him for traffic offenses. Ramirez gave a false name and birth date, but investigators identified him through fingerprints.
Further investigation revealed that Cirilo Marcial-Ramirez had been deported from the United States in February 2010 after being convicted of felony and misdemeanor offenses in Kansas. He did not have permission as required by statute to re-enter the United States.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paulette Stewart prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Great Falls Police Department and Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Cirilo Marcial-Ramirez pleaded guilty to the charge on October 29, 2023. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided at the hearing.
In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s office emphasized the importance of upholding immigration laws and protecting American communities.
