Ryan Duke Haight, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Oklahoma 2023

TULSA, Okla. – In a chilling echo of the horrors of child exploitation, 45-year-old Ryan Duke Haight from Claremore was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment for the Sexual Abuse of a Minor in Indian Country and two counts of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor in Indian Country.

The federal jury convicted Haight back in May. Today, U.S. District Judge Frizzell handed down the sentence, which also includes 15 years of supervised release post-prison. Upon his release, Haight will be forever branded as a sex offender and is required to pay $3,353.70 in restitution.

According to the harrowing evidence presented at trial, Haight engaged in predatory behavior, targeting a 14-year-old minor victim with sexual comments and inappropriate touching. His brazenness reached new heights when he claimed that his favored body part was the victim’s buttocks over her breasts, and later escalated his actions to include unwanted physical contact during rides home and a grotesque act of sexual abuse under the guise of a massage.

Haight’s case has been part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006. The FBI and Rogers County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephen Scaife and Kate Brandon prosecuted the case with relentless determination.

As Haight remains in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, the justice system has delivered a resounding message: predators who prey on children will be held accountable.
