Washington, D.C. – In a chilling turn of events, Andre Clark, 34, has been handed a 19-year prison sentence for the October 2024 fatal shooting of Leonard Taylor, Jr., announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
The trial unfolded in Superior Court where Clark pleaded guilty on May 5, 2025, to one count of second-degree murder while armed. Judge Todd Edelman’s verdict followed a sentence of 19 years in prison, with an additional five years of supervised release.
According to the government’s evidence, the shooting occurred on October 20, 2024, when Clark approached Taylor, who was seated in his gray sedan on 19th St., SE. The defendant pointed a firearm at Taylor before opening fire as the victim attempted to flee, ultimately striking him in the back and causing his death.
Clark was apprehended in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 19, 2024, and has remained in custody since. His sentencing was announced alongside Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith commended the Metropolitan Police Department for their thorough investigation into the case. They also recognized Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Bromwich, who prosecuted the charges against Clark.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on our streets and the dedication of law enforcement in bringing justice to victims’ families. The community awaits further details regarding any potential appeals or next steps.
