BANK ROBBERY STRIKES NEW ORLEANS: Clement Leach, 52, of New Orleans, Louisiana, has been charged with bank robbery in a shocking display of brazen crime.
According to the indictment, on Monday, March 2, 2020, Leach robbed Chase Bank and made off with approximately $920.
The indictment, filed by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, alleges that Leach committed bank robbery in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a).
Leach faces a maximum of 20 years in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, up to a $250,000 fine, up to three years of supervised release following his release from prison, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee if convicted.
U.S. Attorney Evans reminded the public that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The U.S. Attorney praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force and the officers of the New Orleans Police Department for their tireless efforts in bringing this case to justice.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon M. Maestri of the General Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution. The outcome of this case remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the people of New Orleans demand justice for this heinous crime.
