Cleveland Man Charged in Family Dollar Robbery with Firearm
A brazen daylight robbery at a Cleveland Family Dollar store ended with the suspect facing federal charges. Donathan Kidd, 21, is accused of using a firearm to rob the store at 14235 Kinsman Road in Cleveland on April 29.
According to the indictment, Kidd entered the store and demanded cash from employees while brandishing a firearm. The ATF and Cleveland Division of Police are investigating the incident.
Kidd was indicted on one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of using a firearm in a crime of violence. If convicted, his sentence will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violations.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian McDonough. An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Kidd is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Kidd is currently free on bond. His next court appearance is pending. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian McDonough stated, ‘We take all allegations of armed robbery seriously and will work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.’ The Cleveland community can rest assured that the perpetrators of such crimes will be held accountable.
This case highlights the importance of community cooperation in preventing and solving crimes. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
