Felicia D. Russell, Straw Purchase for Convicted Felon, Bedford Hei…

Cleveland’s Felicia D. Russell, 30, finds herself in hot water after a federal grand jury indicted her for purchasing a firearm on behalf of a convicted felon.

Russell is accused of acting as a straw buyer at Atlantic Gun & Tackle in Bedford Heights, Ohio, where she deceitfully claimed to be the actual buyer and recipient of the firearm. United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach confirmed the charges against Russell.

According to the indictment, Russell misled the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) by lying on their Form, a move that facilitated her illegal acquisition of the firearm.

The investigation was led by the ATF, who have been tirelessly working to combat gun trafficking in Ohio. Assistant United States Attorney Matthew J. Cronin will be handling the prosecution of this case.

In determining Russell’s sentence, the court will consider various factors such as her prior criminal record, if any, and the specifics of her role in the offense. Despite being a severe violation, the sentence imposed by the court will not exceed the statutory maximum, which is often significantly less than the maximum allowed.

It’s important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt. Russell will have the right to a fair trial where the government must prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
