Cocaine Trafficker Rios-Nolasco Gets Half-Year in Federal Lockup
BOSTON – Fredi Rios-Nolasco, 34, a Mexican national with a history, is headed back behind bars. The man was sentenced to six months in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally reentering the United States following deportation. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun in Boston, and Rios-Nolasco will again be subject to deportation upon release.
The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm of the Major Crimes Unit, began unraveling on March 6, 2025, when Rios-Nolasco was arrested by the Hudson Police Department. Local charges in Marlborough District Court alleged he was trafficking 200 grams or more of cocaine – a serious quantity indicating involvement with larger networks. It wasn’t just the drug charge that sealed his fate, however.
Routine fingerprinting during the Hudson arrest quickly revealed a troubling past. The prints matched biometrics on file from previous removals – meaning Rios-Nolasco had been deported before and knowingly returned. Immigration authorities promptly lodged a detainer, signaling their intent to take custody once the local charges were resolved. A federal grand jury indicted Rios-Nolasco in April of 2025, escalating the case to the federal level.
Rios-Nolasco ultimately pleaded guilty in June 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. While the reentry charge itself carries a penalty, it’s clear this case was significantly complicated by the underlying drug trafficking allegations. Authorities haven’t ruled out further investigation into his alleged cocaine operation, suggesting this six-month sentence may not be the end of his legal troubles.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, jointly announced the sentencing. The collaborative effort highlights the ongoing commitment of federal agencies to combat both illegal immigration and the flow of narcotics into the country. Rios-Nolasco’s case serves as a stark reminder that repeated violations of immigration law, especially when coupled with serious criminal activity, will be met with federal prosecution.
The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on any further developments. The question remains: who was Rios-Nolasco working with, and how much damage did his operation cause before he was finally caught? We’ll be digging for answers.
