A Robeson County man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation.
Cody Zachary Locklear, 29, was sentenced on Thursday to 144 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The investigation began on August 3, 2019, when the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a community complaint regarding drug sales at a residence in Rowland, North Carolina.
Deputies observed Locklear run out of the residence and attempt to discard a firearm and a bag containing distributable amounts of cocaine, crack, marijuana, and various narcotic pills.
Deputies recovered the firearm and the controlled substances and took Locklear into custody.
The case was investigated by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Caroline Webb.
U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III presided over the sentencing hearing.
The case is part of the Department of Justice’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and violent crime in the state.
