A federal indictment has charged Colton James Fredrickson, 35, of Billings, with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The indictment alleges that Fredrickson, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to court documents, Fredrickson faces a maximum 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release if convicted.
Fredrickson appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Cavan on October 21 and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was detained pending further proceedings.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.
