Columbia Man Charged with Child Pornography

A Columbia man has been charged with producing and distributing child pornography, federal authorities announced today.

Sergio Antonio Dominguez-Gonzalez, 23, of Columbia, was charged in a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City, Mo.

According to the indictment, Dominguez-Gonzalez used a minor to produce child pornography between Feb. 1 and Feb. 22, 2017. The indictment also charges Dominguez-Gonzalez with distributing child pornography over the Internet.

‘The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence,’ said Tom Larson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

The case against Dominguez-Gonzalez was investigated by the FBI, the Boone County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley S. Turner as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

‘This case demonstrates our commitment to protecting children from exploitation and abuse,’ Larson said.
